People want help making sense of the information about cannabis now that Pennsylvania is one of the 33 states and the District of Columbia that offers medical cannabis. Eleven states also have legal adult-use cannabis and so the conversation with our kids about cannabis is changing. Pennsylvania has responded proactively to the opioid crisis by taking the lead in recognizing the effectiveness of medical cannabis for opioid use disorder recognizing it as a qualifying condition for medical cannabis.
The state is acknowledging the research showing that the concept of “gateway drug” is a myth and there is now substantial evidence that it can be an “exit drug” for opioid use disorder.
